When God put this beautiful girl in our lives almost 8 years ago with her wonky little heart, He made us a heart family.  Each and every one of us got a new title, and we’re all ok with that.  So, our celebrations on February 14th are a little different from everyone else’s.  We celebrate who we are as Maggie’s family because it has changed us.  So, we smile a little bigger and even cry a little harder on February 14th each year.

Our morning began with some gifts and a breakfast a little yummier than normal.

The blessing of indescribable bonds with special hearts is a huge part of this journey, and in the last 7 years we have said goodbye to far too many of those blessings.  Two of those touched our family in very special ways, and our children enjoy honoring them every year with a special balloon release.  Kaitlyn Grace was a beautiful baby girl who changed our family and our outlook on life.  Through her beautiful life, we learned to treasure each day and not take a moment for granted.  Oakes was a mighty baby boy who has certainly left his mark on this world and on countless hearts.

Happy Heart Day, Kaitlyn and Oakes!  You are so very loved.

Every year, we are honored to be able to make a visit to a place for which we are forever thankful.  St. Louis Children’s Hospital is what our kids fondly call “Maggie’s hospital”.  They know this is where God allowed Dr. Gandhi to repair our girl’s heart.  It’s also home to some of our most favorite people.  This year, Maggie delivered sweet heart pillows and snuggly heart lovey’s to the cardiac patients.  She also got to give their parents and the nurses some sweet treats as well.  It’s truly one of my favorite days of the year, and I think Maggie would say the same.

Nurse Charlotte, one of Maggie’s most favorite people helped Maggie make her deliveries.

showing Julie some of the goodies

Julie is the coordinator for the mini campers at Camp Rhythm. Mag is a little sad that she’s graduating from Julie’s care but can’t wait to be a big camper this year!

Look at the smile on his face. Not many things can make a dad of a new heart baby smile. Maggie’s delivery brought hope and joy to some amazing families.

Mammie spent lots of time at the sewing machine to help make our delivery possible

It was a beautiful day celebrating our beautiful girl.
