We are Reid’s parents in every way but 1. The state of Missouri has not declared us his parents. As in every part of adoption, this too, is a process. We will have 3 post placement visits from our social worker. One at 1 month (which has already occurred), 3 months, and 6 months. After the 6 month visit, we will be cleared for finalization. Today, we appeared for our first of two court dates. While it wasn’t the BIG court date, it was still very special. Today, the State of Missouri, joined Korea’s decision to terminate the parental rights of Reid’s birth parents.  Second, they appointed Ryan and I as Reid’s guardians. It was a fun morning and definitely made things seem more tangible and real. We are one step closer to him REALLY being ours!  We took Trent and Maggie with us so they could see this part of the process.  However, since it wasn’t as big of a deal, we did not bring Evie Kait.  It was a lot of sitting and knew her wiggly little self would have a hard time sitting still.  She’ll definitely be joining us in July for Reid’s finalization hearing.
