On May 3rd, we will be walking in a Heart walk for the American Heart Association here in St. Louis. Our team is called, Miles for Maggie. So far, our team is made up of close family, but we hope that we will get some friends to walk too.
Most of the time, when people think of the American Heart Association, they think of heart attacks and strokes. Well, it also helps babies with Congenital Heart Defects, like Maggie. Their research will continue to help the doctors give Maggie the best treatment possible. Maybe, just maybe, they will someday come up with an even better treatment for Maggie’s heart. Something, that will hopefully keep her off of that dreaded transplant list (this is my greatest fear). I hate the thought of my 30 year old daughter waiting for a heart. You know like the movie, Return to Me. Okay, I’ll get back on track here.
We will be walking in honor of Maggie Jane. Trent and Maggie will walk too. I plan on making this a yearly event where we can, as a family, help raise money for the AHA. So far, our team consists of my Mom, Dad, Hannah, Seth Jr., Abby Grace, Ryan, Trent, Maggie, and myself. The walk will be held on May 3rd, almost exactly a month after Maggie turns 1. What an amazing way to celebrate her birthday and to embark on another year with our precious baby girl.
